FAQ’s

Hi Ladies, we thought we’d answer some of the frequently asked questions about the FFCup event here;

Q: What is the FFCup?
A: The FFCup is a ladies clay shooting event organised by the Femmes Fatales team and hosted by the very capable and beautiful Royal Berkshire Shooting school. The idea of the cup was to create an event where Experienced shooters, Intermediate shots and Novices can all come together at one event and celebrate women in shooting sports.

Q: Do I need to have my own gun and cartridges?
A: If you are shooting in the Novice category you do not need to bring your own cartridges or gun, those will be provided on the day along with expert tuition. If you’re entering the Intermediate or Experienced category competition you will need your own gun and cartridges. No coaching/instruction will be given to the Intermediate/Experienced shooters.

Q: Do I need to have ANY previous shooting experience?
A: If you’re a Novice, absolutely no experience is required! Even if you have never touched a shotgun before, you can come along and learn to shoot on the day, there will be a team of fully qualified and excellent instructors at Royal Berkshire who take you off on the beginners stands and will have you hitting clays in no time at all. There is no pressure on anyone, it’s fun, relaxed, informal and everyone is there to help & encourage one another regardless of experience.

Q: Can Novices win prizes too?
A: Yes! We want the event to be fun memorable and for everyone to go home feeling proud of themselves, so there will be prizes in all three categories; Novice, Intermediate AND Experienced.

Q: I’m an experienced shot, won’t the targets be too easy if it’s also a beginners event?
A: Absolutely not, the experienced category do not shoot the same targets, the beginners will learn and practise on, the experienced and intermediate shots shoot a separate 80 bird competition course, which is designed to be both enjoyable and testing.

Q: Can I bring a non-shooting guest/friend for support.
A: Sure! Non-shooting ladies are welcome to spectate and join us for the post-shoot lunch (lunch is optional and must be pre-booked separately)

Q: Is there a dress code?
A: No! Simply wear whatever you feel comfortable in and allow room to freely move your arms for use of the gun – Flat shoes are a must, plus it’s a good idea to bring wellies in case of wet weather.

Q: Are there any age restrictions?
A: As long as you’re physically strong enough to hold a shotgun, there are absolutely no restrictions on age – We’ve welcome guests from teens to ladies in their seventies who’ve all enjoyed the exhilarating sport of clay shooting with us.

Q: What cartridges do I need?
A: Fibre wad is preferred, although plastic wad is accepted. No heavier than 28grams. We’d recommend Gamebore White Gold 28gram loads in shot size 7.5 – Cartridges are available to purchase from the Gun Shop at RBSS on the day.

Q: How do I book?
A: To book, call RBSS directly on (01491) 672900 and indicate which of the three categories you’d like to shoot in (based on information given above) Payment must be made upon booking and is non-refundable in the event of a cancellation. Spaces are strictly limited so please book sooner rather than later.
